I was recently quoted in a Bloomberg Law article, “Amazon’s New Distributor Status Means Safety ‘Headache’ Ahead,” which explored what this new categorization means for Amazon and other ecommerce marketplaces financially and logistically.
This article followed the recent ruling by Administrative Law Judge James E. Grimes, who found Amazon to qualify as a product ‘distributor‘ under the Consumer Product Safety Act.
Judge Grimes said, “Undisputed facts show that Amazon meets the statutory definition of the term distributor and does not fall within the terms of the safe harbor for third-party logistics providers.”
